HRH The Crown Prince of Denmark is going to visit the UCI Cyclo-Cross World Championships in Bogense on Sunday 3 February. HRH The Crown Prince will award medals to both the winners of the Women U23 race and the final Men Elite race – as well as sending the riders off to the latter.
“The Royal visit is a great boon to the World Championships. It is also a recognition of North Funen as an enterprising, innovative and beautiful part of the Danish kingdom,” says Per Olesen, CEO of the North Funen Tourism and Business Association. “On North Funen, we are always happy to welcome a member of the Royal Family, and now we are even happier because the Crown Prince as an active sportsman will be able to acknowledge the extraordinary effort needed to be part of the world elite in such a physically and technically demanding sport as cyclo-cross.”
The Royal visit will lead to more positive recognition of the Cyclo-Cross World Championships and one of the most spectacular cycling disciplines. Cyclo-cross is a very entertaining sport where the riders in a short time must handle extremely different challenges. The riders and the audience will enjoy a unique experience in and around the Bogense harbor and on the slopes of the small Bogense Church hill.
