After Saturday’s final World Championship race in Bogense Sanne Cant was surprisingly honored as triple world champion in women’s cyclo-cross. Despite the fact that the 28-year-old Belgian in the crucial phase of the race was in a break away with no less than four Dutchmen.

“Because of the rain the course was slippery and the race was technically demanding and on my own against four Dutch riders I also had to be be tactically smart. So I’m thrilled about this victory,”said Sanne Cant, who also won the World Championships in Bieles in 2017 and Valkenburg in 2018.

The silver was won by Dutch Lucinda Brand who had a very special race with technical as well as tactical challenges. On the slope Brand twice failed by choosing a low line and when she fell during her last visit to the pit, it looked very difficult.

But Brand was constantly closing in on the leaders and impresingly gained second place in front of her countrymen Marianne Vos, Denise Betsema and Annemarie Worst.
